How would you like to be a world record holder ?  Shocked

On Tuesday, August 7th at 2 PM an attempt to break the Guinness Book Record for the Largest Mandolin Ensemble ever will take place at the Galax Fiddler's Convention in Galax, Va

As they say on the event's Facebook page...

Folks can just strum along or play basic melodies or harmonies. We will play really easy tunes like maybe, Old Joe Clark (in A), Angeline the Baker (in D), Cripple Creek (in A), and a couple of others.

Tell every picker to come and bring a few extra mandos if they can too!

That sounds fun and if that was not enough, the event organisers have added....

"Eastman is now sponsoring our event too!

If we break the record, some lucky participant will win a brand new Eastman mandolin! We just need about 500 mandolin players to immortalize ourselves and make mando history!!"   Shocked Shocked

How cool is that ?  Grin

That is really cool. Grin
Something similar took place at an Atlanta Braves game for a banjo Guiness world record. They played Foggy Mt Breakdown for over 5 minutes. They needed over 500 banjo players for the record. This was done right before the game.
Earl Scruggs was sent a video of the event and a copy of the Guiness World record.

They ran that on my local news channel. I think the video in the below article is the same you posted. But here's the news story from the Roanoke Times.
